On April 8th, 2008, Minidoka County Schools ran the renewal of its two year supplemental levy. The levy needed a 2/3 voter approval rate, and it passed by 82.7%. The levy is the primary source of revenue to keep up much needed maintenance on school buildings, facilities and grounds. Projects on the docket for the next two years include roofing projects at East and West Minico Middle Schools and Minico High School, new lockers at East and West Middle schools, floor refinishing at Minico High School and West Minico Middle School, auditorium lighting and sound at Minico High School, awnings at East and West Minico Middle Schools, technology lab equipment and upgrades, paving, sidewalks, security and HVAC upgrades, and continuing improvements on the 20 acres at Minico High School. The Supplemental levy is used exclusively for plant facility projects and cannot be used for salaries. The levy will be officially canvassed and approved at the next School Board meeting on April 21st.
