Special Education Extended School Year, Aug 2009

Special Education ESY (summer school) will be held August 3-6th and 11-14th, from 9 am to noon. Students will be bused to Mt. Harrison School and a snack will be provided midmorning for all students enrolled in this session of Summer School.

Extended School Year (ESY) is offered every year for students enrolled in Special Education in Minidoka County. Traditionally this has been held in early June for two weeks. However, this year, after reviewing research from universities and educational research groups around the country, in particular that of Keith Allred of BSU, the decision was made to schedule Special Education summer school in early August, right before school resumes in the fall.

Open House Dates

The board, administration, and staff of the Minidoka County School District cordially invite the public to attend the Open House Ceremonies for the new elementary schools opening this Fall in Acequia and Heyburn. The Open House and Ribbon Cutting for Acequia Elementary will be on Wednesday, August 19th from 6 pm to 8 pm with the Ribbon Cutting at 6 pm. The Open House for Heyburn Elementary will be the following evening, Thursday, August 20th, from 6 pm to 8 pm. The Ribbon Cutting will also be at 6 pm. There will be light refreshments served both evenings. You are invited to come out and see the new schools and celebrate this accomplishment with all of us. If you can’t make it for the ceremony at 6 pm, feel free to come any time between 6-8 pm and take a tour of the new facilities. The community support and excitement has been wonderful for the addition of these two new school buildings. It has truly been a team effort and much gratitude is expressed to the patrons of the district and communities for their continued support.
