Our Greatest Treasure
Posted: October 29, 2008
This year at Acequia Elementary we decided to use as our theme, “Finding the Treasure Within.” We have previously used the “Fish!” philosophy as the springboard for helping our staff and students recognize the unique gifts and talents they bring to our school and district. We believe that it is important for all those involved in educating our students to take the opportunity to get to know what makes each and every child unique.
As educators, we have the responsibility of teaching students the essential skills they need to master at each grade level, as well as preparing them for what lies ahead. It is also important to keep in mind that delicate balance between what they need to learn and what we can learn from them. Children truly are our greatest resource and as they enter school they are like little sponges eager to soak it all up. We then have the pleasure of nurturing them and watching them flourish. If you have ever had the honor of visiting a kindergarten class you will certainly understand what I am referring to. Taking the time to really get to know our students as well as their families is when the greatest learning takes place. Getting to know what makes each child special is..........................................PRICELESS!
It is not often that we have the chance to tell parents how much we appreciate all that they do to prepare their children for school, but it is with great respect and sincerity that we do so now. We want to thank you, parents, for allowing us the opportunity to educate your children and “treasure” them as well.
