Wellness Events for 2012
The Insurance/Wellness Committee met yesterday to do some planning and make some decisions about our wellness events for 2012.
The following events were approved and funded:
- New for this year we will be starting a Wellness/Weight Loss class which runs each week. There will be some great educational reading materials along with personal coaching and wellness planning. This will be free for all employees and retirees. Kay Webster, a certified personal trainer, who works at DSC has agreed to coordinate the classes. She has some sophisticated body composition/hydration equipment and scales for weekly weigh-in and data monitoring. Stay tuned for more information. The class will be held at the DSC weekly on a day to be determined after school.
- Pedometers- We received a lot of input that many of you need to replace or have just plain "worn out" your old pedometers. We will be ordering more pedometers and encouraging everyone to log their steps. This will help us get moving and prepared for the fun run/walk event. We also want to sponsor some healthy competition between schools/departments. More to follow soon.
- The annual Minidoka Fun Run/Walk (to be scheduled in April-May) will be the final event with the location, again, at the Heyburn RV Park/Amphitheater. Date TBA. We will have some healthy food and possibly a chili cook-off. There will be some good prizes for participants. We would love it if we doubled our participation (from 100 to over 200) this year. Cross your fingers for good weather!
- We still are running Zumba classes at 4 pm Mon-Thur at the DSC. All employees and retirees of the District are welcome to join. Contact Sandra Miller for more info.
