Each day we are going to provide a daily quote by a famous person this month for reflection and thought and also possible discussion during advisory.
The quote for today: The future will depend on what we do in the present. Quoted by Mohandas Gandhi
Our Student Council and Mrs. Dietz thanks you for your participation in our school's service project to help others through their donations and canned food. The monetary donations will go to Jazmin and Jesus Avila Gomez who lost 6 of their family members in a car crash caused by a drunk driver in Mexico earlier this year. Both of these young people have attended West Minico and live in Paul. They are now attending Minico where Jazmin is a senior and Jesus is a sophomore. We will anounce the top individuals as well as the top advisory classroom during advisory today. We have had some individuals who have really taken this worthy cause to the next level. More importantly there are a lot of people in our community that will benefit from your donations. Because numerous students left early yesterday for the track meet if there is anyone that has a donation or canned food contribution please bring it to Mrs. Dietz room 17 at this time. Additionally, if there is any teacher that has any donation containers, participant lists or any additional donations please send them to room 17. Also if there are any student council members that are aides and can help sorting cans today in room 17 we would appreciate your help.
Appreciate all the students turning in an application for student council. Representatives will be announced today during advisory and there will be a meeting tomorrow to announce officer candidacy petitions..
This coming Saturday, April 19th we will offer Saturday School for those students who would like to help their grade from 7 to 11 AM.
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY THE CHOICE IS YOURS!
West Minico Student Council is promoting our schools community service project for a worthy cause during the month of April. It is important that we desire to give back to our community and to help others. The Mini-Cassia Food Bank has contacted us to help restock their supply of canned food or to collect donations so they can help many families from our community. Today through April 15th we will be collecting canned food supplies and or cash donations. A collection jar will be placed in each classroom today and students may start to bring canned food. Teachers will be keeping track of students who contribute to our school-wide service project and incentives are being planned. Also, collection bins will be in place for parent conferences. We appreciate your support in this worthy cause.
Also we begin our SBAC testing first part of April. Students can see the schedule in the commons or by calling for the text message @f4334 to 908-6854 or sign up for the E-Mail reminders. Remember if you have your own set of headphones you may bring them to use on the test. You can become more prepared by practicing on the Smarter Balanced website. Our testing starts tomorrow and we are excited to see how well our students do on this new test. We need to show everyone why "West is the Best!" and "Rock these Tests!"
The eighth grade team of teachers would like to congratulate and have chosen Abbi Kaiser, Luis Pinedo, Kalynn Cotten, and Logan Serr as our students of the week for their positive contributions to our school.
Eighth grade team of teachers would like to congratulate Rachael Gil and Isiaias Mancio who have been chosen as our students of the week for their continued academic improvements and attitude toward school.
The greatest good is what we do for one another. Quote by Mother Teresa.
