  • According to the Guiness Book of World Records, the largest scoop of ice cream ever observed weighed in at 3,010 lbs!

  • The 1st day of Summer - and longest day of the year - is called the Summer solstice and occurs around June 21 in the northern hemisphere!

  • Having a BBQ is a popular activity during the Summer. The longest BBQ ever recorded lasted over 80 hours and included 1,000 hot dogs, 558 burgers, 526 sausages, 104 chicken pieces, and 200 ears of corn!

  • More thunderstorms occur during the Summer months than at any other time of year!

  • The first modern olympic games took place in the Summer of 1896!

  • The “dog days of Summer” got their name from Sirius the dog Star in the Canis Major constellation. You can view the star in July and August!
