Acequia Elementary

Acequia Elementary is excited to participate in the Roaring Readers Program, which encourages students to read for fun while working toward an exciting reward—a FREE day ticket to Roaring Springs Waterpark! Reading logs were sent home last week.

Here’s what parents need to know:
📅 Reading dates: January 12 – March 12
⏱️ Reading goal:
Grades K–4: 600 minutes
Grades 5–6: 800 minutes
📖 Reading must be for pleasure (books, magazines, newspapers, comics).

Homework or school-assigned reading does not count.
📝 Students must track every reading session on the Reading Log.
✍️ A parent/guardian must initial the log each time your child reads.
🚨 Logs must be returned on time—late entries cannot be accepted.
🎟️ Students who meet the goal will receive a discount code for a FREE admission ticket valid May 9–July 4, 2026, or a BOGO option July 5–September 7, 2026.

We encourage families to read together, help students track their minutes regularly, and return logs by the classroom deadline so no one misses out. Thank you for supporting reading at home and helping make this a fun and successful program for our students!

Tomorrow is our Treat & Trinket Sale during lunch! Items are $1.00 each, and all proceeds go to support our Acequia PTO.

Students who wear an Acequia or House shirt will receive an extra treat. Thank you for supporting our school!

First-semester report cards are coming home today! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or Mrs. Hepworth.

As we step into 2026 and begin our first day back at school, we’re reflecting with gratitude on the memories 2025 gave us- full classrooms, growing confidence, laughter in the hallways, meaningful connections, and moments that reminded us just how special this community is.

Our PTO so graciously organized the Giving Tree once again. We are truly spoiled and incredibly grateful for the families who provided much-needed items from the lists. Thank you all—we couldn’t do it without you.

The naughty elves have officially taken over! Classroom doors were taped off, and entering required a little extra holiday bravery. Proceed with cheer… and maybe a careful side-step around the tape. 🎄✨

The naughty elves have been busy around Acequia! Somehow they snuck their way into our gratitude journals today—leaving their little mark behind—but every time we tried to catch them, they seemed to disappear. Maybe it’s because the school was full of the cutest elves we could find, dressed up and spreading cheer all day long. We’re not sure where the elves went… but we’re pretty sure the magic is still here. 💫🎄

The final week before Christmas Break is here, and we’re celebrating with Holiday Movie Spirit Week to match our Christmas program, “Lights, Camera, Christmas!”

Each day is inspired by a classic holiday movie, giving us the perfect excuse to dress up, laugh together, and enjoy the magic of the season as one school family.

Today was one of those days that a camera just can’t quite capture. Our Acequia staff spent the morning at Jae’s Place, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. The message, the stories, the connection… it all left a mark on our hearts. We made promises together today — to be Bold, Inclusive, Nimble, and Generous. B.I.N.G. Simple words with a powerful purpose. We learned about creating “Boot Check” moments — intentional pauses to slow down, breathe, and truly check on ourselves or someone around us. In education, teachers take care of everyone else long before they take care of themselves… and this reminder couldn’t have come at a better time. We will set Jae’s story forward through the way we show up for ourselves, for our students, and for each other. I’m so grateful for the vulnerability, the strength, and the unity our staff showed today. It was amazing — and we will carry it forward. The first snowfall in Acequia did not disappoint ❄️⛄️ The snowmen just kept getting bigger and bigger as each recess went on. Here’s to winter magic and little hands that never stop building!
