🚀🔬 Science was in the air last week at Acequia! Our 4th graders hosted an incredible Science Fair filled with curiosity, creativity, and a little bit of controlled chaos! From stretchy slime to gas-mixing experiments, these young scientists wowed us with their projects and passion. 🧪⚡️🧲
Way to go, 4th grade—you definitely brought the spark to science for Acequia ! 💡👏

Help Us Choose a Winner!
As part of our House Testing Kick-Off, our students participated in a Motivational Poster Coloring Contest! After a tough round of judging, the top 12 posters were selected as finalists—and now we need YOUR help to choose the winners!
Each entry is labeled with a number—but the artist and house name are a secret to keep things fair. The top three posters with the most votes will each earn 25 points for their house!
️ Voting is open now and will close on Thursday, April 17th. Click the link below to cast your vote and help fuel the fun! Thank you for supporting our students and bringing the spirit to testing season!

We’re excited to kick off our state testing season with a fun and energizing House Kick-Off Party tomorrow morning (Thursday, April 10th)! To help build school spirit and get our students pumped up, we’re asking that all students wear their House shirts to school tomorrow. It’s going to be a fun celebration with treats and team-building activities to encourage confidence and a positive mindset as we head into testing. Thank you for your support—and let’s show that House pride!

Spring has officially arrived at Acequia! Our students discovered a ladybug takeover on the playground today—nature’s little reminder that wonder is all around us. We’re loving the curiosity and excitement these tiny visitors sparked!

This week, our school was honored to receive a thoughtful monetary donation in memory of Alexy Hughes Marchant, a passionate educator who wholeheartedly dedicated her life to making a positive impact on children. Alexy, who bravely fought cancer until her passing last July, would have celebrated her 29th birthday this week. In her honor, her family chose to make a contribution to a cause she deeply believed in—supporting students in their educational journeys.
While Alexy may not have been a member of our community, her spirit and story resonate with us all. She was renowned for her fierce love, compassionate heart, and a delightful fondness for pigs. To “Live Like Lex” serves as a reminder for us to embrace kindness, love unconditionally, and cherish each day.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Hughes family for this wonderful gift that honors Alexy’s memory. Her legacy continues to uplift and inspire us all.

This year’s Teacher of the Year is someone who brings creativity, collaboration, and joy into everything she does. From engaging, hands-on projects to always being willing to support fellow teachers, she brings fresh ideas and positive energy to our school. We are so lucky to have Linda Hanxleden on our team!
Our Classified Staff Member of the Year has gone above and beyond in her new role as cafeteria manager. From cheerful holiday decorations to creating a welcoming atmosphere for students, she works hard to make the cafeteria a place students enjoy each day. We are thrilled to recognize Kendra Knight for her dedication and heart.
Thank you both for making Acequia Elementary such a special place to learn and grow! 🍎💛

Serving up smiles and good vibes! 🏐 Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

"M" is for Mischief! 😄✏️ Our kindergarteners walked into a wacky world today—stubby pencils, upside-down name tags, and a brand new letter to learn... M! (Wait, didn’t we already do that? 🤔😉) April Fools had us all giggling and guessing! School is fun, but today it was just a little extra silly.

Our first day back after spring break was made so much better thanks to our Snack Morale by Mrs. Robbins! She brought in the ultimate charcuterie board loaded with all the good stuff 🧀🥖🍇🥜—talk about a game-changer for post-break vibes! Thank you for keeping us fueled and feeling fancy!

Earlier this month, Acequia Elementary transformed into a Children’s Museum for a day! ✨ Thanks to the Children’s Museum of Magic Valley, our students had the chance to imagine, create, dream, explore, and discover in a hands-on, interactive learning experience. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this magical day possible!

Our students logged an amazing 858 hours of reading—enough time to travel around the U.S. THREE times! 🗺️✨
A huge shoutout to our top three fundraising champions: Remi Cameron, Hattie Tracy, and Lawson Nesbit! 🎉👏 Your dedication to reading and supporting our school is truly inspiring!
Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and cheered on our readers. Keep turning those pages! 📖

Don't forget to bring $1.00 to grab a tasty treat or a trinket tomorrow during lunch. All proceeds benefit our PTO.

Don't forget- tomorrow is our STEAM EVENT. This year, we’ll be serving a small meal (nachos and cookies), with all proceeds benefiting our Acequia PTO. The event itself is free, so gather your friends and family and join us for an evening of fun you won’t want to miss!

St. Patrick’s Day spirit was alive and dancing at Acequia today! ☘️ Our students took to the playground with their best Irish jigs, spreading joy and a little luck along the way. 💚
Nothing beats a little music, movement, and fun with friends!

Luck was in the air today at Acequia as our staff took on a spirited Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge! Each teacher started with two green necklaces, battling it out throughout the day. The stakes? Pride, fun, and of course—our legendary Green Basket!
Students cheered on their teachers as the necklaces changed hands, leading to a thrilling final showdown. In the end, it came down to a tie-breaker match… and Miss McHan took home the win! What a fantastic way to bring some St. Patrick’s Day fun into our halls! 🍀💚 Mrs. Kendra Knight won third place (not pictured)

Happy National Butterfly Day! 🦋 Just like butterflies, our students are growing, transforming, and spreading their creativity. Check out this beautiful butterfly artwork from our talented students at Acequia!

It was one of those wild weather days—rain, snow, and a whole lot of imagination! ❄️☔️ Our students didn’t let the frozen ground stop them; they built a "snowman" out of frozen wood chips! Gotta love their creativity and teamwork. After all, teamwork makes the dream work!
