Creating a Place to Belong

This summer, one of the first improvements completed at West Minico was the installation of our new "Home of the Warriors" signs at the front of our school and at the entrance to our gym.

While these signs are a visible change to our building, they represent something much deeper than new décor.

At West Minico, we want every student, family, staff member, and visitor to know they are entering a place where they are welcomed, valued, and supported. We believe a positive school culture begins the moment someone arrives on campus, and we want our building to reflect the pride we have in our school and our community.

These signs were made possible through our Community Schools Grant, which supports projects that create welcoming spaces and strengthen connections between our school, families, and community.

As we count down to the first day of school, we'll continue sharing the many ways we're preparing to welcome our Warriors back home.

Meet Your Warriors

⭐ Meet Mrs. Anderson – 6th Grade ELA!

Mrs. Anderson is joining the Warrior family this year as our new 6th Grade ELA teacher. She brings years of experience working with students, including time as a paraprofessional at Minico High School and as a 5th grade teacher in Paul. We're excited to welcome her to West Minico!

One of Mrs. Anderson's favorite things about middle school is her students' wonderful sense of humor. She loves the meaningful conversations that happen every day and the excitement on students' faces when a new concept finally clicks. She believes every student is of great worth and is committed to helping them discover what they're capable of while encouraging them to reach high expectations.

When she's not at school, Mrs. Anderson loves spending time with her family. Whether she's cheering on her grandchildren at their activities, building LEGO creations, camping, kayaking, or hosting movie nights and sleepovers, she treasures making memories with the people she loves.

💙 Help us give Mrs. Anderson a warm Warrior welcome! We can't wait for our students to get to know her this year.

If you notice several emergency vehicles at West Minico Middle School today, there is no cause for concern.

Local emergency responders are using our parking lot to conduct scheduled training exercises. This is a planned training event, and there is no emergency at the school.

We appreciate our partnership with our local first responders and are grateful for the time they invest in training to keep our community safe.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from the West Minico Warriors! 🇺🇸

As we celebrate Independence Day, we also recognize a remarkable milestone—250 years of the American spirit. For two and a half centuries, our nation has been shaped by courage, perseverance, service, and the belief that each generation has the opportunity to make a difference.

At West Minico, we strive to grow Warriors who demonstrate those same values every day through respect, responsibility, resilience, and a commitment to their community.

We hope your holiday is filled with family, friends, laughter, and safe celebrations as we honor those who have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy.

Happy Fourth of July, Warriors! ❤️🤍💙

Dear West Minico Families and Warriors,

On August 18, 2025, we opened our doors for another school year. Today, on May 28, 2026, we close this chapter with hearts full of memories, growth, challenges, laughter, and pride.

This year, championship games were won, assignments were completed, and grades of A, B, C, and D were earned. Elementary students visited to listen to stories our students wrote. Too many hats were collected, and we renewed our commitment to keeping our “hands off.” We walked a lot of miles around the school during wellness breaks, spotted ghosts during Halloween season, and maybe argued a little during cornhole tournaments.

A weight room was transformed, and a commitment to wellness began. Tutoring was given, projects were completed, and students linked together their accomplishments as they showed growth on their ISATs. Waldo seemed to appear everywhere in the building, teachers were tattooed, and smiles and laughter echoed through classrooms, hallways, and corners of the school.

There were also mistakes made and poor choices at times — because learning and growing is not just academic. It is becoming. It is figuring out who you are and who you want to be.

At West Minico, we believe a warrior is someone who shows courage, resilience, kindness, responsibility, and strength through challenges. This year, our Warriors were strengthened.

Thank you for trusting us with your children each day. They have challenged us, inspired us, made us laugh, and helped us grow into better warriors ourselves.

Have a safe and wonderful summer, Warriors. ☀️💙💛

Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

As we enjoy time with family and friends this Memorial Day, we pause in gratitude for the sacrifices made to protect our freedoms. Thank you to all who have served and to the families who have sacrificed alongside them.
