100 days smarter and still smiling! 💯🎉

Today we celebrated 100 days of learning, growing, reading, problem-solving, and building friendships. One hundred days of showing up, trying hard things, and cheering each other on.

We are so proud of all the progress our students have made — and we’re excited to keep the momentum going as we finish the year strong!

Our 5th graders stepped outside their comfort zones, tried something new, and cheered each other on every run down the hill. There’s nothing like a day in the mountains to build confidence, courage, and a few unforgettable memories.

💙 Honoring a Legacy of Service 💙

Students at Minico High School in Mr. Travis Kent and Brent VanEvery’s class recently completed a beautiful memorative bench to honor the mother of Coleen Jones, District Transportation Director.

Coleen’s mother dedicated more than 50 years of service to the district as a school bus driver and transportation department employee. This bench stands as a lasting tribute to her commitment, hard work, and the countless students she supported over the decades.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their craftsmanship, compassion, and for helping preserve the legacy of those who have served our school community so faithfully. 💙🚌

In art class, our students learned about the great artist Michelangelo and how he painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel—lying on his back—for four whole years! 🎨

We may not have ceilings like the Sistine Chapel, but we do have some pretty amazing young artists who now know that big masterpieces take patience, creativity, and a whole lot of imagination. Who knew art class could double as a history lesson and an upper-body workout?

Acequia Elementary is excited to participate in the Roaring Readers Program, which encourages students to read for fun while working toward an exciting reward—a FREE day ticket to Roaring Springs Waterpark! Reading logs were sent home last week.

Here’s what parents need to know:
📅 Reading dates: January 12 – March 12
⏱️ Reading goal:
Grades K–4: 600 minutes
Grades 5–6: 800 minutes
📖 Reading must be for pleasure (books, magazines, newspapers, comics).

Homework or school-assigned reading does not count.
📝 Students must track every reading session on the Reading Log.
✍️ A parent/guardian must initial the log each time your child reads.
🚨 Logs must be returned on time—late entries cannot be accepted.
🎟️ Students who meet the goal will receive a discount code for a FREE admission ticket valid May 9–July 4, 2026, or a BOGO option July 5–September 7, 2026.

We encourage families to read together, help students track their minutes regularly, and return logs by the classroom deadline so no one misses out. Thank you for supporting reading at home and helping make this a fun and successful program for our students!
